Digital Health Company Peerfit Closes $8 Million
Series B Investment Round

Peerfit, a digital platform that makes it easy for insurance carriers, brokers, and employers to offer fitness classes and wellness services to their clients and employees, announced that it closed its Series B funding round. With the closing of this round, Peerfit raised $10.3 million from private investors in the last year’s offering. More details may be viewed here.

Florida Institute Entrepreneur-In-Residence, Dr. Lawrence Tinker (second from right), moderated a panel discussion on “Access to Capital in Northwest Florida” at the monthly meeting of the NWFL Forward Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.  Joining him on the panel were Steve Millaway of Tech Farms Capital (left), Bo Megginson, Executive Director of Gulf Coast AIM Group (second from left), and Ryan Tilley, COO of VetCV and Vice Chair of Innovations Awards Committee (right).  Northwest Florida Forward is a strategic initiative to drive economic vitality and growth for the northwest Florida region.  More details may be viewed here.

Formed by the Florida Legislature in 2007, the Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research is a non-profit organization that works collaboratively with the technology licensing and commercialization offices of Florida’s state universities and private research institutions to leverage a $2.5B+ research base and form investable companies that create clean jobs in new industries that are driving the global economy. The Institute provides company building services, and seed funding through the Florida Technology Seed Capital Fund, to promising Florida startups. Seventy-two companies have been funded to date, and the Institute’s economic impact through June 30, 2017 was $970 million, with an annual return on investment of 26 times to the State of Florida.
